According to most of official interpretations painting is a way of laying paint or pigment on all possible kinds of the surface, including canvas, paper, glass, walls, clay and so on. Traditionally, a central object or a group of objects and correspondingly the central spot are considered to be the most essential idea of any picture;

Nature of painting

To comeback to what was being said, painting is one of numerous art trends. However, painting is very specific as it is visual art style and the main feature of comes to the whole plot being laid with special painting media on all possible kinds of the surface. To the best knowledge, color and tone are the main media of expression.

Colour is highly subjective, but it is connected with psychological associations every person has in his mind. Another important peculiarity of the painting is rhythm. It is like a pause integrated into the body of picture. It allows to add form, melody, and colouration. Although being unified whole, the picture may be visually divided into smaller part that counteract, creating the unforgettable impression. So, every "smaller part" has it own form and melody.

As it was said above, one of the current fashionable traditions stipulates incorporating different materials such as sand, straw or wood into the very structure. These materials bring more effect and chic to the "object de vertu".

Furthermore, it needs to be said that modern painting doesn't appreciate such traditional norms as strict plot or steep contours as it was valued before. Still, the Western tradition, for instance, preserves the core set of its traditions.
